Andrea Mason Garner
I am thrilled to return (virtually) to Indonesia where I am working as a Virtual English Language Fellow with the U.S. Department of State’s RELO Jakarta office to help establish an academic writing center at Universitas Negeri Malang. As an English Language Fellow in 2019-2020, I taught English courses at UIN Malang before returning to the US due to the pandemic.
I enjoy teaching, tutoring, and research. As a former lecturer at the University of Idaho (USA) I taught students from China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea in the university’s Intensive English Program. Earlier in my career, I lived and worked in Ukraine for several years. In addition to tutoring at UM’s AWC, I continue to tutor Ukrainian students and immigrants new to my community. My research interests are varied and focus on second language writing, academic writing centers, and tutor development.
